Reader Submissions: What's Your Favorite Germany Guidebook?

From Edward Cristianson

My Favorite Guidebook

I have to say that the Michelin Red Book is my favorite guide book. For me, I like to go into a country with as little of a plan as possible. The one thing I can't leave to chance is finding good food.

The Michelin guide is a the gold standard for foodies abroad.

Why I Like This Guidebook

Here is a blurb about the book from Amazon:

The 2010 edition includes, more than 4,800 hotels and 1,600 restaurants, comprehensive overview of where to eat and stay in Germany for every budget, time-tested Michelin iconography for easy reference, Michelin stars indicate culinary excellence, Bib Gourmand designation highlights good value, Red Pavilions icons highlight charming hotels, organized alphabetically by town for ease of use, hundreds of city maps to help locate hotels and restaurants, regional maps to highlight the best places to eat and stay in the vicinity, easily recognizable symbols indicate facilities and services available in establishments.
