Guide Review - The Berlin Love Parade - The Love is Back in Force
Various clubs sponsor floats which are manned by the best DJs from around the world blasting out their best Techno music. The Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade, this is not. This is a creative, wild tribute to love and techno that mixes Carnivale with music to create one really great street party.
Outrageous is the theme for the day as people don body paint (sometimes nothing more), headdresses, wigs, and costumes de Mille would be jealous of. For a good 20 hours, if not more, Berlin is gripped in a frenzy of music, dancing and exhibitionism. The event culminates in a huge concert with performances by the DJs that literally make the ground vibrate. Of course, that is not the end, parties go on all over the city after the concert. One of the things I love most about the Love Parade is that it was started in 1989 by one DJ who decided to parade through the streets of Berlin blasting music from his car. 150 or so partyers joined in, following the car through the streets and thus, the Love Parade was born.
Even if you only do it once, don't miss this great event if you are a techno enthusiast or happen to be in Berlin in July.
