Germany offers excellent music festivals in September. Classical music fans can attend one of several festivals in Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and Bonn. The Popdeurope Festival in Berlin is a great choice for pop music lovers as is Popkomm. Regardless of the type of music you like, you will enjoy the Düsseldorf Autumn Music Festival and Beethoven fans won't want to miss the Beethoven Festival in Bonn.

Popdeurope

13-15 September 2007 - First or second full weekend in September annually
Popdeurope, Berlin, showcases some of the up and coming and well-known pop artists from Europe for three days. Admission to the festival, which is held at the Berlin Arena, is only 24 euros for 3 days with some concerts requiring additional tickets. A great venue for is a summer music festival of global sounds. Held in the Arena Berlin, it showcases artists whose lives may be centred in Europe but whose music explores non-European sounds and styles.

ARD International Music Competition

Talented young musicians from all over the world compete in this classical music event which is a great showcase for young musicians. Classical music lovers have a chance to see the newest talent at exceptionally reasonable prices.

Berlin International Literary Festival

Literature lovers, authors and editors from around the world meet at this book and literature festival in Berlin, where you can hear readings from countless authors. If you are a pop fan or, more particularly, in the music business, you will not want to miss the Popkomm Festival. Hundreds of great shows over a period of a few day and a great place to learn about the latest and greatest in pop musicians. Take a few days out of Oktoberfest to take a trip up to Berlin to visit this great festival.

Düsseldorf Altstadt Autumn Festival

The old town (Aldstadt) of Düsseldorf is the place to be whether you are a jazz, contemporary or classical music fan. Many of the concerts are free, but none are more than 30 euros. Düsseldorf bars and pubs also participate with special acts during the 3 week Altstadt Herbst Festival.

International Beethoven Festival

24 August - 23 September 2007 (Every year)
The International Beethoven Festival is a favorite of Beethoven fans from around the world and is a lot more than just Beethoven. You can hear some of the other great contemporary and classical composers in Bonn, Beethoven's birthplace. Tickets range from 10 to 100 euros, depending on the concert and venue.
