January events in Germany consist of a lot of winter sports competitions including, this year, the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships and, of course, the annual Wintersports Weeks at Garmish Partenkirchen. Berlin is busy with the arts with the annual dance festival, Tanztage and the two week long Baroque Opera Festival at the Staatsoper.

The Berlin Akademie der Kunste hosts this event which looks at digital technologies and arts including video screenings, exhibitions, talks, and a range of cross-media events.
