Fans of the arts should head to Dresden in April, you can combine some time at the Dresden Filmfest with Dresden International Dance Week. If you are an art lover, be sure to take in the Frankfurt Art Fair or the Dusseldorf Night of the Museums. Combine Brahms with some elegant spa days in Baden-Baden for a total exercise in relaxation - "Lullabye and Goodnight...". If you don't speak much German but are a film buff and want to see Berlin, consider visiting the Britspotting Film Festival which highlights the leading British independent films of the year.

Filmfest Dresden

Filmfest Dresden gives film enthusiasts and film makers the chance to view and showcase animated and short films at theatres around the city. In addition to enjoying springtime in Dresden, you can take in some of the latest films at this very popular festival. The city is one of the most romantic in Germany and rich in history and culture.

Britspotting Film Festival

Berlin's ACUD Cinema hosts the Britspotting Film Festival which is a traveling exhibition sponsored by the British Art Council showing the latest independent British films. The program has extended to performances in Cologne and Stuttgart which follow directly after the Berlin film festival.

Mayday

Dortmund, Germany
30 April Annually
Mayday is a one of Germany's biggest clubbing dates and Dortmund offers a concert event with over 20 international DJs at the Westfalenhallen Arena.

Dresden International Dance Week

Dresden, Germany
Annually, the last 10 days of April, give or take a day, check the Tanzwoche Web site for exact dates and performance times.
Dresden International Dance Week (Tanzwoche)combines dance, speech and musical theatre at various venues around the city, on the streets and in the town square for 11 days each year.

Munich Ballet Week

Munich, Germany
Held annually at varying times in April, check the Bayerisches Ballet Web site for exact dates and schedules.
The annual Munich Ballet Week offers several performances by the Bavarian State Ballet, the Munich Philharmonic and the State Opera with performances at the National Theatre.

Rottweil Jazz Festival

Rottweil, Germany
Held annually, the generally the last week of April and the first week and a half of May, but dates may vary so check the Jazzfest Rottweil Jazzfest Web site.
The Rottweil Jazz Festival brings jazz enthusiasts and performers from around the world as various venues in the city host jazz performances for three weeks starting the last week in April. Rottweil, is amazingly enough, where Rottweilers come from and the history of rottweilers and their place in the history of the area is fascinating.

International Bodensee Festival

Held annually, the International Bodensee Festival always starts in April and ends in May but dates vary considerably, so it is best to check the Bodensee Web site before planning your trip around the festival.
The International Bodensee Festival provides a wide range of concerts, literary events, exhibitions and theatre performances. Each year there is a different theme and there are classical concerts every day at various venues at very reasonable prices. The setting is lovely and you can also take in some of the surrounding sights including the Zeppelin Museum.

European Media Art Festival

Osnabrück,Germany
Annually starting on the Wednesday leading up to the last Sunday in April - for details, check the EMAF Web site.
The European Media Art Festival (EMAF) in Osnabrück provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of ideas, concepts and works in international media art. Osnabruck is a beautiful town dating back to the 8th century and the old city walls still remain as well as many historic buildings - if you are in the Hannover area, it is well worth the trip out to Osnabruck.
