Dresden lies on both banks of the river Elbe in Saxony, in the East of Germany. Thanks to this idyllic location in the river valley, its Baroque architecture and world-renowned museums, Dresden is also called "Elbflorenz" ("Florence at the river Elbe"). The Frauenkirche, Church of Our Lady, dominates the skyline of Dresden and you can already see it from afar.
