Germany - Irish Pubs - Favorite Irish Pubs in Major German Cities

Irish pubs are not necessarily a dime a dozen in Germany, but you can find plenty. Visiting an Irish pub is a great way to socialize and meet plenty of people, both German and English speaking. Certainly, I have found a lot of Irishmen and Brits hanging out at the local Irish pubs so if you are feeling a bit homesick, it is not a bad way to spend a few hours. I have listed here some of the pubs I have been to or heard of in Germany's major cities. Even some of the smallest towns are apt to have an Irish pub any more - just ask around.

This is one of the most active Irish pubs I have been to in Germany, there is always a crowd and a huge cross section of people, both German and Enlish speaking. Live entertainment, music, dancing, satellite TV and a huge bar make this a favorite of many despite the fact that it is not extremely intimate. The bar has the added advantage of being right on the Reeperbahn so there are plenty of other places to go if you want to hit some of the more traditional or outlandish bars in Hamburg.

I particularly like the Shamrock Irish Bar because it is very friendly, run by active people who are also active in the Hamburg community, a tiny locale, it is a great place to go sit and the bar and throw down a few Guinness.[The bar provides great traditional Irish music and has a great location on Hamburg's harbour along with a beer garden.
