The Dresden Frauenkirche

DWT/Dittrich
The Frauenkirche dominates the Dresden skyline with its incredible baroque architecture. With renovations recently completed, the church has been restored true to the original plans and is a fascinating study in restoration as well as being an awesome historical site. The church was almost totally destroyed in 1945 when 650,000 bombs were dropped on the city - the altar and chancel still stood among the rubble. The rubble remained until German reunification and reconstruction plans were laid in 1989.
