This above schedule gives you a listing of the places you will see each day and the amount of train travel time required during that day. You will probably want to book your hotels ahead of time but if you fancy having a little more freedom, the various tourism offices and the Deutsche Bahn offer hotel reservation services at the main train stations.

For day trips, don't use your RailPass, instead use the local transportation.

  • Day 1 - Arrive in Munich.
  • Day 2 - Take a Day Trip to Fuessen
  • Day 3 - Tour Munich
  • *Day 4 - Leave Munich for Augsburg, Ulm and Stuttgart
  • Day 5 - Tour Stuttgart and the surrounding area
  • *Day 6 - Leave Stuttgart for Heidelberg, spend half a day in Heidelberg and then on to Frankfurt or Wiesbaden for the night
  • *Day 7 - Leave Frankfurt, stop in Koblenz and/or Wiesbaden and end up in Cologne for the night
  • Day 8 - Tour Cologne, Aachen, Bonn, or Düsseldorf - depending on your interests
  • *Day 9 - Leave Cologne for Hamburg with a stop in Bremen
  • Day 10 - Tour Hamburg
  • *Day 11 - Leave Hamburg for Berlin, tour Berlin
  • Day 12 - Tour Berlin and Potsdam
  • *Day 13- Leave Berlin for Dresden - Tour Dresden
  • *Day 14 - Leave Dresden to return to Munich
* Travel with your German Railpass.
