The Great Dane has a short life span and is prone to heart and stomach problems - eight years or so is not long for a dog- even in dog years. Great Danes need to be tended to with good diets and lots of affection. Loving and gallumping, you may consider choosing a Great Dane for a pet if you have plenty of room and a good budget for the vet.

The Great Dane is truly a lovely dog. Great Danes have been around since Egyptian times but the current breed of Great Dane comes from Germany - not Denmark. The national dog of Germany, the Great Dane has been celebrated in Germany since 1876.
