I Due Forni - Restaurant Review
I Due Forni is a lively Italian restaurant cantina-style; always packed with a crowd of young families, students, and artists, this place is buzzing day and night.
The restaurant is decorated with revolutionary memorabilia, and signatures from punk bands, who ate here, are scribbled all over the walls.
The waiters at Due Forni are all native Italians which makes for a very relaxed laissez-fair atmosphere.
While the service can be fast and friendly, I have also had some short and snippy waiters here. Shrug it off: It is worth it, the brick oven pizzas are the best in town; crisp, thin-crust, and generously topped with fresh ingredients.
I always order the "Incredibile", with thin slices of Italian prosciutto, crisp walnuts, parmesan cheese, and a heap of fresh arugula on top. If you are bold, try the pizza with "Pferdefleisch" – smoked horse meat.
Salad is served in an unconventional do-it-yourself style: Lettuce leaves and big chunks of raw vegetables come in a bowl, accompanied by a tray of vinegar, oil, salt and pepper.
Make sure to leave room for a homemade Italian dessert: The Tiramisu, sprinkled with cocoa, is light and not too sweet, and the creamy Panna Cotta, topped with a thick strawberry sauce, tastes heavenly.
Finish off with a Grappa, an Italian wine brandy.
