When you ask Michele Hartley where she is from, she is likely to pause a moment before answering. Michele has lived and worked in cities around the world, most recently settling in Hamburg, Germany. Her love affair with Germany began with her first visit there in 1989, coinciding with the fall of the Berlin Wall. She has since traveled Germany extensively for business and pleasure and spends much of each year acting as a tour guide for friends and family.

Experience:

Michele spent over 10 years living out of a suitcase, much of that time spent in German hotels. Her business experience includes opening shops and offices across Germany, publishing a magazine, serving as a VP for a German telecom company and as Director for an IT company in Germany. She has worked extensively with the travel industry and currently makes her living writing and editing.

Michele has enjoyed a wide array of experiences, from owning a B&B and starting a winery to working with companies around the world bringing new products to market. She has a passion for new products, places and people which is reflected in all she does.

She is equally at home in a hostel or a luxury hotel with her laptop as her travel companion. Michele has embraced German life and the diversity of experiences the country offers. She has traveled extensively in Germany and around the world and is involved in several social entrepreneurship projects.

Typical Tourist - Michele on Holiday

From Michele Hartley:

Germany is an incredibly diverse country. I am constantly amazed and surprised by the countless things you can do here and the variety of places to visit. It is equally appealing to nature lovers and history buffs, socialites and backpackers, young and old. I may be a bit prejudiced, but there is really nothing that Germany does not have to offer.

I hope I can introduce you to my Germany, historic towns and villages, lovely cities, monuments, museums and churches, spas and resorts, the food, wine and beer, the North Sea, the Alps and everything in between.

In answer to your question, no I do not work for the German Tourism Board.

Gute Reise!
