Every spring, the city of Dessau, a two-hour train ride away from Berlin, commemorates Weill with a week-long music festival. This year, the motto of the festival is New York New York, celebrating the metropolis where the German composer lived from 1935 to 1950, and where he enjoyed many great artistic successes.
