Traveling to Berlin in summer? Lucky you! The city has so much wonderful things to offer in the hot months and Berliners seem to be a bit happier and friendlier when the temperature rises.
Although the German capital isn't anywhere near the ocean, you won't have to do without a beach. Berliners get their tan one of the many man-made urban beaches along the banks of the river spree, which runs through Berlin's city center. The best way to get there in summer? Hop on a (rented) bike! Or take the train and head to lake Wannsee in the southwest of the city, where locals have been sunbathing and swimming for over 100 years. In the evening, you can watch the latest movies in a Freiluftkino (open-air movie theatre) under the stars; or have a beer in a breezy beer garden; or grill up some sausages in the sprawling Tiergarten park; or party at the illuminated Badeschiff, Berlin's floating pool.
