I am not a vegetarian, but my last visit to Germany included so many sausages, that I felt like I wanted to go meatless for a while. A lot of travelers might think that it's difficult to find vegetarian fare in Germany, assuming that it's all sausage, schnitzel and knuckle of pork. It's true, the traditional German cuisine is heavy on meats, but in the last couple of years, a lot of vegetarian (and even vegan) restaurants have sprouted up all over Germany's culinary scene. So whether you are a full-time vegetarian or just need to take a break from too many German meats, here are the best vegetarian restaurants in Germany, offering everything from gourmet cuisine to organic fast food.
