Weimar is the birthplace of the famous Bauhaus Art School, which created a revolution in art, design, and architecture in the early 20th century.
In 2009, the Bauhaus celebrates its 90th birthday, and between April and November, you can take part in guided art walks to follow the paths of famous Bauhaus artists and architects like Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, and Lyonel Feininger.
The Bauhaus tours begin at the original Bauhaus Universitaet where the movement started in 1919, and then lead you to the artist's studios and some great buildings in the distinctive Bauhaus style.
